Day 8 Kununurra and Ord River cruise

Went to the Ivanhoe Cafe for a coffee and a muffin. Sat under mango trees and watched Martin at soccer training with the local dog.

Honeyeater in the park and a lovely moth in the loo.

The rest of the day was taken up with a cruise along the Ord River, from Argyle Dam to Kununurra. But first we stopped at a Durack Homestead museum. Iconic windmill. And possibly the reason we’re having trouble with internet …..

Argyle Dam and lake at the start of our cruise.

Oh blah! The colony of fruit bats was on the bank of the river near the beginning of the cruise! I put them in the wrong place. The closeup was taken by my friend Therese who is also a bird and animal nut!

The obligatory freshwater crocodile on the river bank.

Stunning gorges, red rocks, amazing scenery. We were on a flat bottomed boat like the jetboat in NZ, only bigger. He didn’t drive it like a jetboat though.

Darter drying itself and normal pose. And another crocodile!

More stunning cliffs and the boat we were on.

Highlight of the cruise - rock wallabies in a cave! They are tiny compared to the ones at home!

Got to have a pic of the sunset on the Ord River!
