Day 7 Kununurra

A day off today. The fires where we were are downgraded now, so no threat. We spent the morning going in to Kununurra for shopping and a look around.

Visited the Kimberley Diamonds shop, an Aboriginal art gallery and of course a souvenir shop!

Taking the opportunity to upload some other random photos:

This is actually a Grevillea - it looked like a Casuarina at first glance, but you can see the Grevillea flowers.

This is the flower of a stunning tree called the Kimberley Rose. Sort of like the Rata tree in New Zealand, but not as dense. We saw it a couple of days ago.

This little critter was in one of the tents when we got to El Questro campsite and- gave the lady who was going into that tent a fright!

A beehive on one of the boab trees at our campsite.

Gouldian finches are in the area, but these ones were in an aviary at the campsite. Horrible wire and so hard to focus on the birds.

  1. Pleased to hear the fires have been downgraded. Hopefully no more to disturb your trip. Cold and wet here. A tad jealousy of the warmth you are enjoying. Oh for T~shirt weather!
